1-3/4" Expandable KD

Daybar's EF / EF K Series frames are designed to accommodate the broadest range of wall construction with a single adjustable product. The ideal solution when existing wall types are unknown, or during new construction where wall construction might otherwise be held up in waiting for the manufacture of custom jamb depth frames.

EF Series frames can be used in wall thicknesses ranging from 3-1/2" to 12". These easy to install frames are made with 16 gauge galvanneal steel and can be fire rated up to 90 minutes. Suitable for use with 1-3/4” doors and recommended for interior or exterior commercial, industrial, and residential applications.

EF / EF K Series – Expandable Drywall Frame Specifications

2-piece frame component held together with a bracket system spot welded to the frame material, which allows the jamb depth to be reduced or increased for site conditions. The range in jamb depth is 4-1/2" to 8-11/16".

Door: To accommodate 1-3/4" wood, steel, or fiberglass doors in 6'8" or 7'0" height. Nominal door size is FRAME WIDTH minus 3/16" and FRAME HEIGHT minus 3/4".

Sizes: Single Doors (3-hinge): 2'6", 2'8", 2'10", 3'0" x 6'8"; Double Doors (3-hinge): 4'0", 5'0", 5'4", 6'0" x 6'8"

Frame Material: 18 gauge A40 galvanneal steel provides excellent protection from corrosion and serves as an ideal substrate for finish paint. A60 available.

Hinge Preparation: 1-1/2 pair of 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" standard weight (.134) template hinges for 6'-8" and 7'0" height.

Hinge Reinforcement: 10 gauge 4-1/2".

Closer Reinforcement: Surface closer 12 gauge.

Strike Preparation: Standard preparation is ANSI A115.1 (1-1/4" x 4-7/8").

Strike Reinforcement: 14 gauge cold rolled steel, offset for strike thickness, drilled and tapped for 12-24 screws and dimpled top and bottom for projection welding to frame material.

Expandable Slide Bracket: These brackets are manufactured from 16 gauge galvanneal steel which are spot welded to the frame material. Three sliders are used on frame jambs and two sliders are used on frame heads.

Installation: The frame faces are dimpled in three locations on the jambs and two locations on the heads, to allow for screw fastening of the frame to the wall.

Finishing: Passivated for easy paint application.
