Floor closers provide the best mechanical means to support and control a door. They are designed to work with the laws of physics to provide long-lasting performance and reliability. The weight of the door is supported by bottom arm and floor, with heavy duty, hardened, one piece steel spindles.

Rixson Heavy Duty Floor Closers

Ideal for high frequency applications:
- Large entrance of department store or office building
- Theatre, bank, or school entrances
- Restroom doors
Offset floor closer application (for rabbeted frames)
Intermediate pivots & hinges (determined by door size and weight)
Single-acting or double-acting center hung floor closers (for cased opening frames)
Optional center hung top pivots
Use extra heavy-duty (L & H) (L-offset) (H-center hung) models for higher traffic / lead lined or extremely heavy doors
Closers can be offset hung, center hung or independently hung, single or double acting (center hung only)
Heavy-duty, hardened, one piece steel spindles are designed to provide positive dead stop
Thrust bearing supports vertical load, with needle bearings for lateral forces
Extra heavy-duty models also have an additional surface applied thrust bearing to handle heavier doors or doors that have very high traffic
10 year limited warranty, most models

Floor Pivot Types

Offset Hung Floor Pivot

Pivot point is located 3/4" from the heel edge of the door. This dimension is a constant. The pivot point is located in front of the door with the pivot knuckle visible. This position is normally 3/4" or 1-1/2", but can be extended with special product.

Used on rabbeted frames
Single Acting only
Depending on pivot or closer being used, it can swing 180º

Center Hung Floor Pivot

Pivot point centered in thickness of door
Pivot point can be moved closer toward lock edge of door
Used on Cased Opening Frames
Single acting or Double acting
When single acting pivots or closers are used, there must be a frame or angle stop at the lock edge of the door
Depending on frame location, doors with standard edge-of-door installations can rarely swing more than 130º
Cannot be used on fire rated doors
Center hung closers are not recommended on residences

Pocket Pivot

Pivot point is located in the frame
Pocket pivots can only swing 90º
Doors open into and sit in a pocket in the wall
Primarily used for fire rated, cross-corridor doors
