Series 98/99 Exit Device Specifications

Von Duprin pushpad exit devices are available in two external surface styles, designated 98 Series and 99 Series. The two styles are mechanically and dimensionally identical and provide a wide selection of appearance options.

Touch bar exit devices are mounted on the egress side of the door.
They can be mounted for rim, mortise, surface vertical, or concealed vertical applications.

98 / 99 Exit Devices

For all types of single and double doors with mullion, UL listed for Panic Exit Hardware. Devices are ANSI A156.3 – 2001 Grade 1. The 98 device has
a smooth mechanism case and the 99 device has a grooved case. The rim device is non-handed except when the following device options are used: SD (Special Dogging), -2 (Double Cylinder) or SS (Signal Switch). Covers stock hollow metal doors with 86 or 161 cutouts on single doors (may cover cutouts on pairs – consult Penner).

Finishes – US3, US3A, US4, US4A, US10, US26, US26D, US26D-AM Antimicrobial, US28, 313, 315 and 643E. US15 and US32D available with
98 Series only.

  K or L, remove NL drive screw from device.

Antimicrobial Coatings for Exit Hardware

Hospitals, schools and food service facilities experience high traffic every day, even in areas that aren’t open to the public. Von Duprin can help you combat bacteria on panic and exit hardware with an antimicrobial coating that provides lasting protection.

The vast majority of bacteria are rendered harmless by the human immune system, but a few are responsible for infectious disease. The antimicrobial coating on Von Duprin exit devices works to protect the hardware’s surface by inhibiting the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.

The coating is made using ionic silver (AG+), a single atom that is missing one orbital electron that interacts with the bonding sites on the microbe surface. The result is that silver ions surround bacterial cells – blockading food and respiration supplies, hindering the bacteria from reproducing.

• Unauthorized opening triggers 85-decibel horn
• Set in armed or disarmed mode by key

E - Electric Mortise Lock Device:

• Controls locking of outside trim and latch bolt separately
• Fail safe and fail secure

EL - Electric Latch Retraction:

• Enables remote unlatching
• Alternative to manual dogging

• Bolt retraction via switch
• Converts exit door to push-pull operation

PN - Pneumatic Latch Retraction:

• For areas where electrical devices banned
• Special linkage for mechanical or pneumatic dogging

Von Duprin created the first panic exit bar in response to the Iriqouis Theatre Fire of 1903 in Chicago. The fire caused the highest loss of life in history for a single building fire, taking a total of 602 lives in 20 minutes.
